GE Calls it Quits

December 4, 2011

I talked before about GE’s expensive and unnecessary F136 engine, the “alternate” engine for the Joint Strike Fighter, here (I’m real delicate in my opinions obviously, let me tell you how I really feel!) Congress has dropped plenty of extra cash on the program long after the engine decision was made and long after it was clear the primary choice had no major cost, engineering, production, or delivery problems. Congress kept throwing money at it anyways.  But this last year thanks to budget austerity the program has finally bit the dust. I think it’s lived off of the pork of purchased congressmen and been carried on the backs of the American taxpayer for far too long. Good riddance.
